Michael SD Agus, MD, a renowned pediatric intensivist and pediatric endocrinologist, is serving on the editorial board for MerckManuals.com, an authoritative medical reference.

Dr. Agus is the Division Chief of the Medical Critical Care Division within the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he was the founding medical director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit, as well as co-medical director of the Biocontainment Unit. Dr. Agus is the Constantine Anast MD Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He leads NIH-funded clinical trials that seek to address unanswered questions concerning endocrine homeostasis in critically ill children. He has published over 100 manuscripts including two clinical trials in The New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr. Agus received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1995, followed by an internship and residency in pediatrics at Boston Children's Hospital. In 2002, he completed fellowships in both pediatric critical care, at Massachusetts General Hospital, and pediatric endocrinology, at Boston Children's Hospital. He has been elected to several honorary academic medical societies, including American Society of Clinical Investigation, Society for Pediatric Research, American College of Critical Care Medicine, among others. He received the 2023 Distinguished Career Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Critical Care.
