Zymewire, the leading Sales Intelligence Management System for biotech and pharma service providers, today announced the appointment of Heather N. Sugrue as Managing Director. In this role, Sugrue will oversee commercial operations, working closely with clients and prospects to help shape the evolution of Zymewire's system and ensure continued value to organizations across life sciences.
Sugrue brings nearly two decades of commercial leadership experience across leading contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), including Patheon Thermo Fisher, Recro Gainesville (now Bend Biosciences), and Catalent. Known for aligning commercial strategy with operational execution, she has helped organizations build scalable infrastructure, strengthen pipeline health, and drive sustainable revenue expansion across complex service markets. She has been an active Zymewire user since 2014, integrating the system into territory strategy, opportunity prioritization, and commercial infrastructure design throughout her leadership career.
"Heather represents exactly the kind of commercial leader we built Zymewire to serve," said Pete Bastedo, CEO and Co-Founder of Zymewire. "Her deep knowledge of both the service provider world and the biotech and pharma companies we all serve—their buying behaviors, priorities, and decision-making—makes her uniquely qualified to help us continue evolving as the category leader in sales intelligence for life sciences. She understands our customers because she has been our customer for over a decade."
In her new role, Sugrue will strengthen partnerships with existing clients while identifying emerging challenges across the service provider ecosystem. Her mandate includes deepening the feedback loop between customers and product development, ensuring Zymewire remains responsive to the evolving needs of commercial teams.
"Throughout my career, I've relied on Zymewire to align my commercial execution," said Sugrue. "The system's life science market intelligence, paired with their knowledgeable teams, consistently helped us reach and exceed sales targets."
"I'm entering this role at a uniquely transformative moment. General AI tools can provide quick data access, but commercial success in life sciences depends on deeply curated datasets, real-world customer buying insights, and domain-specific context that generic tools can't replicate. After nearly two decades building commercial organizations, I've learned that sustainable growth comes from intelligence purpose-built for how BD and sales teams actually work. I'm excited to help teams across CROs, CDMOs, and other service providers integrate Zymewire into their daily BD workflows and experience that same advantage."
Sugrue will work from Zymewire's Toronto headquarters, relocating from San Francisco to take on the role.
