Lilly boosting size of Kendall Square innovation center
- Eli Lilly is already the largest tenant in a well-appointed building in Kendall Square, located in Cambridge, MA.
- Now, Lilly is leasing another 6,000 square feet in the BioMed Realty building in which it already has space. The total square footage controlled by Lilly will now be 23,000 square feet.
- Lilly plans to hire 30 scientists and engineers within the next two years.
Lilly is on a roll as it joins other biopharma neighbors at 450 Kendall, including Compass Therapeutics and Semma Therapeuics. As the largest tenant in this building, located in the red-hot center of the growing cluster of biotech and pharma companies, Lilly is focusing on drug-delivery systems, which is largely related to the fact that more than half of its drugs-in-development are biologics.
Lilly's Kendall Square location will serve as a place to foster external partnerships and collaborations, and will become part of a productive R&D network, which also includes locations in San Diego, New York City, and Indianapolis.
