Lannett inks exclusive deal to distribute ACEON generic in the U.S.
- Lannett will be the exclusive U.S. distributor for perindopril, the generic version of Symplmed Pharmaceuticals' ACEON, in 2-, 4- and 8-mg doses.
- Annual sales of perindopril are approximately $3.5 million.
- Aceon is an ACE inhibitor used to treat hypertension.
Generic Aceon is the first medication that Ohio-based Symplmed is marketing. Symplmed is marketing Aceon in conjunction with a program, Dyrect Axess, that facilitates patients’ access to medication and also enrolls them in an interactive disease-management program. The model is based as much on the company’s service offering as it is on its pharmaceutical pipeline.
Currently, Symplmed's pipeline development is focused on its investigational drug, Prestalia -- a single-pill, fixed-dose combination of perindopril and amlodipine. Approval of Prestalia will help Symplmed solidify its commercial presence.
